Cookie Policy

Last updated: 20 September 2026

This policy explains how LeakIQ uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and platform. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy. We comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device and remember information about your visit, such as your login session or your cookie preferences.

Cookies can be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them). They can be set by the website you are visiting (first-party cookies) or by third-party services embedded on the site.

Some of the technologies described here are not cookies in the strict sense. Your cookie choice, for example, is kept in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie. We list it here anyway, because the same rules apply to anything stored on your device.

2. Cookies we use

Essential cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the website and platform to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking the service. We do not need your consent to set them under PECR.

NamePurposeDuration
next-auth.session-tokenMaintains your authenticated session on the platform30 days
next-auth.csrf-tokenPrevents cross-site request forgery attacksSession
leakiq_cookie_consentStores your cookie preference so we do not ask again. Kept in local storage, not a cookieUntil you change it

Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website: which pages are viewed most often, how people navigate, and where they arrive from, so we can improve the site. We use Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC), which sets a pseudonymous identifier to distinguish visitors. We do not use it to identify you personally or for advertising. These cookies are only set if you choose “Accept”.

NamePurposeDuration
_gaGoogle Analytics, distinguishes visitors2 years
_ga_<id>Google Analytics, maintains session state2 years

Google may process this data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. See Google's Privacy Policy or install the Google Analytics Opt-out.

Advertising and targeting cookies

We use the LinkedIn Insight Tag (provided by LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company) to measure the performance of our LinkedIn advertising, record conversions such as trial sign-ups, and build audiences for retargeting on LinkedIn. These cookies are set by LinkedIn and are only set if you choose “Accept”.

NamePurposeDuration
li_sugrBrowser identifier used to match with LinkedIn ad data90 days
bcookieLinkedIn browser identifier1 year
lidcLinkedIn data-centre routing1 day
UserMatchHistoryLinkedIn Ads identifier syncing30 days
AnalyticsSyncHistoryStores information to sync identifiers for LinkedIn ads30 days

These are representative of the cookies LinkedIn sets; it may set others and change them over time. LinkedIn may process this data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. See the LinkedIn Cookie Policy or manage your LinkedIn ad preferences.

We also use the ChatGPT Ads measurement pixel (provided by OpenAI), which tells us when someone who clicked one of our ads went on to request a report, so we can judge whether that advertising is worth running. It is only loaded if you choose “Accept”, and it sets two first-party cookies on our domain.

NamePurposeDuration
__opprefAttributes a visit to the ChatGPT ad that referred it30 days
__obrefBrowser reference identifier used for conversion measurement1 year

This pixel also uses OpenAI's automatic advanced matching. Where supported details are present on a page, such as an email address you have typed into a form, they are normalised and hashed using SHA-256 in your browser before anything is sent, so OpenAI does not receive the raw values. OpenAI does not offer a way to switch this off separately from the pixel, so if you would rather it did not happen, choose “Essential only” using the control in section 3 and the pixel will not load at all. OpenAI may process this data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

3. Your choices

When you first visit our website, you will see a cookie banner that lets you choose between accepting all cookies or essential cookies only. Both options take a single click, and you can change your mind at any time using the control below.

Analytics (Google Analytics) and advertising (LinkedIn, ChatGPT Ads) cookies are only placed after you choose “Accept”. If you choose “Essential only”, or clear your saved preference, these are not loaded and we use only the essential cookies listed above.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies. Please be aware that disabling essential cookies may prevent the platform from working correctly, you may be unable to log in or maintain a session.

For guidance on managing cookies in your browser, visit aboutcookies.org or your browser's help documentation. If you would rather we handled it, email support@leakiq.io.

4. Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or changes in applicable law. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

5. Contact us

For any questions about our use of cookies, contact us at support@leakiq.io.

For more information about your rights in relation to the personal data associated with cookies, see our Privacy Policy.
